Week Seventeen – Wednesday

We'll be out there soon

We’ll be out there soon

The boat is about two weeks away from getting her bottom wet. Looking out over Picton Bay it isn’t soon enough. The weather has gone from winter to summer with a couple of days of spring. We moved the boat to another location today where the interior painting and brightwork will be done.

  1. Holy smokes guys, you’re doing a super job. Nice to see her ( I am assuming the boat will be referred to as a ‘she’, as is traditional) sitting outside on the trailer. Looking forward to seeing her in the water.

  2. She is a beauty! You have done a fabulous job, how exciting it will be to launch her. Have fun rowing!

  3. Hello!
We are students from Erie, PA also building a St. Ayles Skiff. Our blog is bmcstaylesskiff.blogspot.com. Please check it out!
How many hours a week do you work on your boat? How many people are working on it? Where exactly are you from?

We’re excited to hear back from you,

    The BMC crew

    • Hi BMC Crew,

We are a group of twelve retired guys from the Picton area in eastern Ontario. Our project started in January and we were working two days a week from 10AM to 4PM. Six of us in the shop on each day. More recently, however, we are putting in some extra days to meet our launch date at the end of the month.

Your boat is looking really good and it was nice to see you working outdoors last week. Will you be taking your boat to Mystic Seaport this summer?

  4. She looks amazing, well done guys and on the trailer too Greg! Like the bright t-shirts and logo too and hope you have lots of fun with the launch – good luck!
